Let's get this party started.

This is the beginning of an adventure. So let’s imagine that we are sitting in a cozy coffee shop, toasting our favorite drinks and getting to know one another. I probably have an iced Americano or vanilla flat white in-hand and ready to share my life story- or maybe just a little bit to start out!

I’m Yvonne Lawson, a 28-year-old calligrapher+artist+dreamer in Annapolis, Maryland. My husband, Josh, is my business partner+craftsman+professional nerd, and together we are Coffee & Calligraphy. If you haven’t already guessed, yes, I am a major coffee enthusiast. I survive a typical work week on 4-6 cups of black coffee daily or a few French presses of espresso. Thankfully, Josh loves coffee just as much as this girl and has a soft spot for handcrafted goods. When there isn’t a coffee in my hand, you can bet I’m on the lookout for a new favorite cocktail or craft beer!

Now that the coffee obsession is out in the open, let’s talk about who I am, what I love and what I do. My husband, Josh, and I live just a few short minutes outside of Annapolis, Maryland- a charming town peppered with local businesses, delicious eats and the best cocktails. We are both artists with backgrounds in fine arts--- I studied Art History, Studio Art + Journalism in college (natural over-achiever) and he studied special effects makeup (pretty cool stuff).

Our story started when I was a fresh-faced 16-year-old swooning over my cousin’s best friend. We dated for ten years before making this thing official. We shared a vision for our wedding, so naturally we carried out every last detail ourselves. It was a blast, but so much work! In those months of wedding prep, I stumbled back into my old love of calligraphy and lettering. Once the planning came to end, I quickly realized that I needed that creative channel. For the better half of 2015/2016, I picked up calligraphy/lettering as a hobby once again. And by Fall 2016, my hobby transformed into a small side hustle with a few clients each month. Once 2017 hit, I knew that this was no longer a hobby but a vision of a business to come. And now I’m here- creating beauty all around me, finding my style and meeting new folks left and right!

I can’t wait to continue to share my newest creations, behind-the-scenes looks, thoughts, musing and everything in between!
